We will be learning the last key change in Darklands March and then running all songs checking for dynamic consistency, articulation consistency, melodic line vs. accompaniment balance and finishing any test that need to be heard. 7th Grade We will be working on dynamics and shaping of melodic lines in all three LGPE songs. Another playing assessment will be created this week to hear students individual understanding of Dark Fortress. 6th Grade We will be working on learning more of Tambora! We have 15 measures learned so far and need to learn the next 15 measures by the end of the week. We will start to introduce a rhythm of the day for students to become more comfortable with reading rhythms to help them understand how to read music faster. Welcome Back!!!
8th Grade- We will be finishing up learning Cave you Fear and learning our march. Students will be attending the Black History Play on Thursday during class. 7th Grade- We will be refining dynamics and balance in all of the LGPE songs. 6th Grade- We will finish Shockwave and begin a new song for the spring concert April 23rd. 8th Grade:
They will be finishing up the Cave You Fear. They will also hear a presentation on Thursday from Kennesaw Mountain High School regarding electives and how to sign up. Students are also finishing up their recorded tests showing their understanding of the beginning of the Cave You Fear. 7th Grade: They are detailing their 2 LGPE songs with dynamics and articulations. 6th Grade: The students are working hard on Shockwave and learning how sheet music works. They have learned about the Melody, Counter Melody and Accompaniment. The students are recording a test from Shockwave on understanding measures 1-17. 8th Grade
We have been working hard on leaning The Cave you Fear for LGPE. We have learned 45 measures so far and are playing at tempo. Students had a test this week on Adrenaline engines checking for understanding. We will continue the Cave you Fear next week and then begin learning the march. 7th Grade Students have learned all of Voodoo Dance and took a test on certain parts of it this week. Also, they received their march and began learning the beginning of it. 6th Grade We have been working on slurs in class. This is a technique where students are not to use their tongue to play notes. We had a test on slurring while playing Frog Song. Also, students are learning about keeping the tempo while playing eighth notes. 8th Grade - We are finishing up our 1st LGPE song Adrenaline Engines. We will then move onto the Cave You Fear on Thursday. We will have a playing exam January 31st on Adrenaline Engines.
7th Grade- They are finishing up Voodoo Dance and will be moving onto Andelouche. They will have a playing exam on January 31st as well on Voodoo Dance. 6th Grade- We have introduced the concept of a slur as well as building students range. They will have a playing exam on January 31st from their new music sheet. We have begun playing our instruments and working on new warm ups in all grade levels. We want to make sure we understand the basics before we move into sheet music.
Something New In Band: Students will be testing differently this year. Students will be able to record themselves playing certain musical selections to receive a grade. We are trying to jump into the new world of technology. More details will be shared next week! Reminders: Students might need reeds and/or valve oil for their instrument. Please check in with them to make sure they are prepared for class daily. Thanks, Mrs. Adams All grades will perform their music together as full ensembles and perform at their concert.
At the end of the week, students will write about their experience with the concert and evaluate their performance. Anyone who is interested in decorating music stands can begin bringing in supplies. We will start decorating on Monday of next week. We look forward to the creativity that our students will share. All grades: Polishing up all music for the concerts. Working on running songs without stopping and making sure students feel confident with what they have to perform.
8th Grade
We are working on Swing style and recognizing the melody and accompaniment in our new holiday songs. Student will have a playing test on each of their songs the week of November 18-22. We will be doing spot checks to make sure they are playing their part correct. 7th Grade Students are working on Enharmonics in music and identifying their names. They are also working on recognizing the melody and accompaniment in their new music as well. We will spot check next week how well they are doing on their understanding of the new music. 6th Grade We are working on recognizing and playing 5 notes. They have done extremely well on their first three notes and playing Hot Cross Buns. We will now begin working on Twinkle Twinkle and other folk songs to help build their understandings of their new notes. |
